OB1Net was started to provide wireless broadband internet to the residents of Ocean Beach. OB1Net is an
alternative to high-cost cable internet and lack of DSL in the outer Richmond district.
2. What is included in basic OB1Net service?
OB1Net's basic service is 24/7 internet connectivity at T1 speeds. All customers will get two OB1Net.net email address.
3. How much does the monthly service and installation cost?
Network access costs $30.00 a month. The installation cost is $120.00 per computer.
4. What equipment do I have to purchase?
OB1Net will supply the equipment necessary to connect customer computer to the OB1Net network.
PC users will get a small radio receiver called a dongle and Mac users will get a wireless card. This equipment is returned when the customer leaves the network.
5. How long does it take to get connected?
Time to installation may be between 7 and 14 days.
Actual installation time will depend on the type and location of the computer. Most installs are between 30-60 minutes.
However if antenna coverage is not available to the room in which the computer is located, installation may take up to a week.
6. Can I connect more than one computer to the network?
You may connect all computers in your household to the wireless network for $30.00 a month.
OB1Net will install each computer to the network for $120 per installation and
each computer will always be connected to the network. Multiple computer users also have the option to share one wireless device
with the computers and save on the installation cost. The customer will be responsible for setting up the second computer.
Please be advised that OB1Net cannot set up home ethernet-based networks.
7. What does Wi-Fi mean?
Wi-Fi is short for wireless fidelity and is used to refer to 802.11 networks.
8. Does OB1Net offer tech support?
OB1Net Technical support is limited
to issues of network connectivity. OB1Net is offering

9. Why does OB1Net have bandwidth usage limits?
OB1Net's policy is to limit broadband usage during peak use hours
in order that customers will always have a fast connection.
Please download large files during the morning and late night hours.
10. What home appliances interfere with OB1Net
2.5 GHz wireless phones operate on the same frequency as WiFi and the use of them may cause
connectivity difficulties. The 900MHz and 5GHz phones do not interfere with WiFi.
Also your microwave oven may leak enough 2.5GHz radio waves that your connection may go
down while you cook.
